Ahh, lover’s day. Love it or hate it, it is best to be prepared. Even if you happen to be single, you can’t forget to tell your friends and relatives how much you love them. Is Valentine’s day just another commercialized greeting card holiday? To an extent, yes, but why not just have some fun with it!
According to Mashable, the most popular Valentine’s Day gifts are, as you would guess: greeting cards, candy, flowers, an evening out, jewelry, clothing, and gift cards. Gift cards? Really?! Talk about romantic!
Valentine’s Day happens to land on a Sunday this year, which is not so great for restaurants, movie theaters, and event venues, as people are less likely to go out, or stay out late on a school or work night. Sunday, February 14th could also prove to be a difficult one for delivering gifts, such as flowers. C’mon, every girl wants he co-workers to see the flowers her significant other sent her, and it is pretty tough to do that on a Sunday.
With our ever increasing need for instant gratification, professing your love via text message is becoming more and more popular. Thoughtful and inexpensive, just don’t forget to send your text with a heart emoji.
The best Valentine’s Day gift moment I have ever had was just last year. My daughter loves to create art, so we painted her hands in red and pink paint to create hearts out of her hand-prints to send to her grandparents and great-grandparents. A year later, you can walk into any of their homes and see the tiny red and pink hand-print Valentine’s Day cards still displayed proudly. My mom even told me that my grandmother teared up when she received the card from her first great-grandchild. Sometimes it is the little things!
