When we first start or buy a business. our brand is front and center in our mind. We work extremely hard to focus in on the right colors, fonts, taglines and company name to make sure we are getting our brand right. We run our ideas across our family and friends, solicit help from advertising professionals and more until it is perfected. Than we “roll it out”. But what we all forget to do is to “roll it back” once in a while. Semi annually, once a year or every couple years, don’t forget to evaluate your initial great idea and make sure it is still relevant. Sometimes just the smallest tweaks and adjustments can make your brand stronger and help it resonate with your audience.

One way to keep your branding fresh is by regularly looking at your marketing budget. Ideally, your budget should scale in proportion to your sales.
In addition, keeping your strategy fresh means paying attention to external influences and local factors. Something that worked well, or didn’t, one summer might have been impacted by unusual circumstances, such as weather, or unexpected trends. It’s important to factor in these variables when assessing the performance of a campaign. Context matters, and staying aware of the bigger picture helps guide smarter decisions moving forward

As a business, your website is basically your online storefront, so keeping it fresh is critical to keeping it an effective element of your branding. You don’t have to do an overhaul of your site to keep it fresh – even small changes like swapping out photos, updating copy, and subtly updating the colors that are used throughout can make a big impact on the overall feel of your website and keep it looking fresh and modern.
Also, changing up your digital ads periodically is also crucial so that your ads don’t get stale and your audience stops noticing them. Again, little changes can make a huge difference!

Summer’s the perfect time to heat up your branding and stand out in the social scroll! Keeping your content fresh ensures your audience stays interested and invested. Social media is a real-time conversation, so think of what your audience wants to see from you the most. Remember, you’re an industry expert and your social presence is a way to show your expertise in a more fun and casual way.
Another thing to keep in mind is that less is actually more. Instead of posting quick updates, take time to craft quality content instead. Also, don’t be afraid to show off your personality and be a little less professional. You want your followers to feel as comfortable and connected to your messages as they are to a cute animal video. The bottom line is if you want to spice up your feed and keep your brand sizzling all season long, develop a format that makes people come back for more.

As a designer, it’s imperative to stay true to your brand guidelines to ensure consistency in your marketing assets, but you don’t have to think of your guidelines as something static. Instead, think of it as something dynamic that can evolve with your audience and trends, without losing its core identity. Think of small tweaks, such as new campaigns or phrases, updated illustrations, photos, patterns, or graphics, that refine your brand without confusing your loyal audience with a redesign.
You can also audit yourself regularly by reviewing your past creatives, from social posts to printed materials, to make sure it’s branded and relevant. Using the same layouts, for example, can start to bore your audience, so don’t forget to freshen up your creative from time to time for more variety and excitement.

Keeping your brand fresh means staying in tune with how your audience perceives you. Whether it’s updating your imagery or refining your messaging, a strong brand should always reflect who you are now, not who you were five years ago.

One way to keep your branding fresh is to pay attention to evolving design trends and find organic ways to incorporate them into your business. Taking a look at your target audience will help narrow down which trends are going to be most effective. This will ensure that you are staying true to your core values while also keeping things exciting.
