Dawn Claymore, Owner

As the founder and owner of Midwest Marketing, Dawn is the rhyme to our reason and the reason to our rhyme.

Dawn is one of the most respected marketing professionals in the region, for good reason. Holding three marketing degrees and a wealth of experience, she pursued her dream of being an agency owner. That dream came to fruition in 2005 when she opened the doors to Midwest Marketing. Her first client? The automotive company she was working for at the time.

Dawn has received several accolades over her career such as being named SBA’s Women Owned Business of the Year, Prairie Magazine’s Top 25 Women in Business, Black Hills Advertising Federations Silver Medal Winner, SD CEO’s Enterprising Business Team, The ECHL’s Marketing Team of the Year, Black Hills Homebuilders Associate of the Year, Business Hall of Fame Marketing Consulting Services, and numerous Advertising Federation awards.

Dawn has served on numerous non-profit boards including, the Black Hills Works Foundation, the Rapid City Rush Foundation, United Way, Youth & Family Services, The Club for Boys, and many more. She was also the first female board member on the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce Diplomats Board. Giving back to the community is something Dawn believes strongly in and focuses on.

Outside of work, Dawn is always on the move. Her and her husband Troy love to travel, spend time on the lake, biking and hiking. Dawn and Troy have three adult children and five grandchildren.

What Midwest Marketing value resonates most with you?

Open and clear communication that is based on Midwest values like respect, integrity, and trust. This truly states who we are. We focus on the Midwest traits of being hard working, caring for the community, being humble and honest, and doing what is right.

Life and work as a Consul (ESFJ)

“Encourage, lift and strengthen one another. For the positive energy we spread to one can be felt by us all.”

Consul is defined as very caring, social, community-minded, eager to help, extroverted, observant, assertive, and intuitive.

Life and work for me as a consul is pretty well explained above. I love people. I love helping people. I love my community and I am determined to do the best I can do everyday for myself, my family, and my employees and clients.

When I’m not at work you can find me…

With my husband, my children, my grandchildren, my friends…. Exercising, exploring the great outdoors, cooking, reading a book, trying something new, taking a risk, traveling the world, sailing the ocean, fishing on a lake, enjoying the sunset, putting my feet in the sand, saying a prayer.

The best part of waking up is?

Seeing what today’s adventure will hold. Life is an adventure, always changing. Today I am blessed to wake up and see what new things I will learn and who I may get to meet or help.
