The Lowdown on Google Marketing Live 2022

Much like how those that love cinema look forward to the Oscars each year, us marketing nerds anticipate Google’s annual live conference. Each year, they unveil awe-inspiring new technology that will soon be released for our marketing benefits, whether it will make marketing life easier and more streamlined or result in bigger revenue for our clients.

Google’s 2022 conference didn’t disappoint, offering up plenty of fun advancements that no one saw coming. If you missed it, don’t worry – as a Google-certified agency, we’re here to let you know some of what you can look forward to in the world of Google!

Video Ads Re-Imagined

Connect with customers on YouTube Shorts. Reach more people with actionable ads with Video Action and App campaigns that will be available on YouTube Shorts. Product feeds will also be able to be connected to campaigns later this year, which will make ads even more conversion ready.

Capture attention with video ads in Discover. Available on your Google homepage and filled with personalized content, Discover is a great way to get in front of potential customers with ads that inspire. Soon, you will be able to include short video assets in Discover to make your ads more compelling.

Reach your audience with connected TV. Advertisers will soon be able to target affinity, in-market, and demographic audiences on Display & Video 360 to reach their audience across YouTube and other ad-supported connected TV apps.

Automation Innovations

Get better results with new tools. Google will be offering even more resources to guide in marketing success, including more A/B testing tools, new insights, expanded campaign management support in Search Ads 360. Those that would like to track in-store visits to their location will also soon be able to optimize for store visits, along with running what’s called a burst campaign for shorter campaign durations.

Receive valuable data with the Insights page. Using billions of searches that are conducted every day on their platform, along with millions of signals analyzed for every ad auction, Google has the personalized trend data you need to succeed. They will be rolling out three new reports in the coming months: attribution insights to show how your ads work together to drive conversions; budget insights to identify new opportunities for budget optimization; and audience insights for first-party data to show how your customer segments drive overall campaign performance.

Enjoy automatically created assets for responsive search campaigns. Later this year, you will have the ability to opt-in to Google Ads automatically creating assets for your campaign based on your existing ads and landing pages. The system will even optimize your campaign by combining the best-performing combo of both automatically created assets and assets provided by you to make your ads the most relevant.

Provide a more engaging shopping experience with mobile-first layouts for responsive display ads. Showcase your brand with mobile-first layouts with scrollable ads and videos based on your product feed.
