The New Kid on the Block

Hi!

My name is Rachel Johnson and I’m the new kid on the block here at Midwest Marketing.

I started the first 18 years of my life in an average, Nebraska town called Papillion. I shared a house with my two parents, my two older brothers and my younger sister.  After high school, I decided to branch out, so I moved to Kearney where I attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).

During my last semester of college, I completed two internships. One was a digital marketing internship with a telecommunications company and the other was doing advertising and public relations for a digital media camp UNK put on every summer for high school students. Both allowed me to get a great experience with marketing and digital media advertising. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations in May of this year.

I married my husband, Dawson, a few weeks after graduating. After our honeymoon, we decided to start looking for jobs in South Dakota. He grew up there and I’ve always loved vacationing to the Black Hills, so we decided it should be our new home. I was lucky enough to get a job as the new account coordinator at Midwest Marketing, and Dawson will be brewing beer at The Knuckle Brewing Co.

Outside of work, I enjoy going on outdoor adventures with my family including hiking, biking, skiing, and boating. I also love playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends. For all who are wondering, I usually play as a Tabaxi Fighter (cat/human) but occasionally will switch to a Copper Dragonborn Fighter (dragon/human with fire breath) to keep things interesting! I also enjoy pretty much any type of card game or board game, preferably with more than two players. I guess you could also consider my dog as one of my hobbies since I spend most of my time outside of work with him. His name is Tug Boat, and he’s a pretty neat little dude.

I am very excited to call South Dakota my new home and can’t wait to work with such a great team here at Midwest Marketing!
